bgHamNoSysUnicode — Hamburg HamNoSys 4.0 Unicode font ====================================================== This directory hosts the Hamburg HamNoSys 4.0 Unicode font (`bgHamNoSysUnicode.ttf`), used by the Bridgn/Kozha contribute page to render HamNoSys phonetic notation glyphs at their intended visual fidelity (§ 5 of the HamNoSys 4.0 manual). Provenance ---------- - Maintainer: Institute of German Sign Language and Communication of the Deaf (IDGS), University of Hamburg. - Upstream: https://www.sign-lang.uni-hamburg.de/dgs-korpus/tools/hamnosys (also distributed via the CTAN ``hamnosys`` LaTeX package, https://ctan.org/pkg/hamnosys). - Authors: Thomas Hanke, Marc Schulder, et al. (IDGS/DGS-Korpus project). The font is distributed by IDGS for academic, research, and notation-tool use. When redistributing the binary alongside Kozha, retain this file and the original IDGS license bundled with the font (ship it as `bgHamNoSysUnicode.LICENSE.orig.txt` alongside the `.ttf`). This file is a pointer — the binding license terms are the IDGS terms shipped with the font itself. Credit ------ If you use this font, credit IDGS (University of Hamburg) per the project's README ("Credits → Notation System"). See: https://www.sign-lang.uni-hamburg.de/dgs-korpus/ Why we load it locally ---------------------- Per the contribute-page redesign (prompts/prompt-contrib-7.md §2), the font must be loaded via a local `@font-face` declaration rather than depending on a CDN. The declaration lives in `/public/contribute.css`. If the `.ttf` is absent, browsers fall back to the system stack and the HamNoSys codepoints render as replacement boxes — the UI still works, it just isn't pretty.
